Customer Advisory: ILWU Canada issues 72 hour strike notice

24 May 2019

Yesterday, the International Longshore & Warehouse Union Canada (ILWU) issued notice to GCT Canada advising of their intent to strike on Monday, May 27, 2019 at 07:00 Pacific Standard Time.

GCT Canada will continue to meet with the BC Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) to seek a fair, collective bargaining agreement that is in the best interests of our customers, and the entire North American economy. GCT Deltaport and GCT Vanterm are initiating contingency plans in the event of a work stoppage, and will work closely with customers to minimize disruption, ensuring an efficient and safe suspension of terminal operations.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work through these difficult circumstances, which are all part of the collective bargaining process. If you should have any questions, please contact Lauren Chan with the BCMEA at 604.694.2329.
